The Snows of Venice: The Lerner-Kluge Container comprises a variety of modes of discourse between Ben Lerner and Alexander Kluge. The catalyst for their correspondence was a series of short stories written by Kluge in response to Lerner’s first collection of poems ‘The Lichtenberg Figures’. This spawned an in person interview over angels and art criticism as well as follow up responses to one another’s work, written with that specific intent. This whole selection is accompanied by pictures of Venice in the 1970’s by Gerhard Richter in addition to other photos by R.H. Quaytman and Thomas Demand to illuminate the text.
